Miami Open: Sumit Nagal loses in the preliminary round

<p>Sumit Nagal, an Indian tennis player, lost to Coleman Wong of Hong Kong in his last qualifying round match, thereby missing out on the Miami Open main event on his debut.</p>

<p>Nagal succumbed to the 19-year-old 6-3, 1-6, 5-7, throwing away the lead he had gained by winning the first set.</p>
<p>Earlier, Nagal defeated Gabriel Diallo of Canada in a straight set with remarkable poise.</p>
<p>In Monday’s first-round qualifying encounter, the 26-year-old managed to control his jitters at the right moments to defeat the 6-foot-8-inch Diallo 7-6(3) 6-2.</p>
<p>After this victory, Nagal is probably going to set a new career-high at world No. 92.</p>
<p><strong>Raducanu leaves</strong></p>
<p>Due to a lower back ailment, Emma Raducanu of Britain withdrew from the Miami Open on the eve of her first-round match, according to the tournament’s organizers.</p>
<p>The former US Open champion, who will play Wang Xiyu of China in the first round, missed the most of the previous campaign due to several operations.</p>
